This is my young arts series and I did the 5 out of the 7 deadly sins. Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, Wrath & Sorrow. I took inspiration from John Baldessari. He puts paint dots on the faces from the photos. I wanted to kinda take that but soften in for the fact that I wanted another aspect in my photography. I decided to put lines through a part of their face with colors that symbolize said sin. Like gluttony is green, lust is red and pinkish, sloth is a light blue, wrath is red and sorrow and dark blue.

For this open studio I wanted to get the original owner of the mask So I can get the fitted and get different angles without the side of someone elses jaw. I really like this mask that Mary Grace made so i have used it twice. This shoot was pretty simple because I was pretty crimped on time because of the grading period was ending so i made it pretty simple. I know i can do better so next shoot i will make sure im not crunched on time.
This propaganda poster is about how women are so unappreciated and are ignore in the media, politics and in general. People think that because they are women they are inferior to men. When in reality women are more superior in basically everything because they think more with emotion and are more intellectual than men. Men usually are just gung ho about things without thinking about the consequences. Women are more analytical and think more before doing something. This poster is to bring awareness to women and how under spoken they are in society because they are looked over.
In this shoot I ended up shooting my first idea with the mask representing the "masculinity" and "strength" that a man should have based on what society puts on them.
In the first picture its supposed to represent him putting on that mask representing a metaphorical mask of strength and him trying to fit into the mold that society has put on his gender. In the second picture hes looking at the mask like "should i make myself fit into societys views of my gender?" & in the last picture hes on one of his knees like hes giving up and wants to conform to society's views on him but doesnt put it back on, reason why, the mask is further away from his face. When i was editing these pictures i played around with the highlights, brightness, curves and the burn tool in the corner to darken the over exposed spots that was created by the floor light. So I wanted to try something new. I was feeling redundant as a photographer and doing the same things over and over again i.e with gel lights and the strobe lighting. I wanted to add different objects in my photography so i experimented with flowers and bubbles. It was a pretty fun shoot as well because i wasnt as stressed as i was before. i kinda just let lose and just had fun.
During the class discussion we talked about the process they used when they were shooting and how to better our process skills.
